CAUTION: Facebook Spoof eMails – Happy Holidays NOT

I get to see every flavor of spam possible as a web developer that has developed, implemented, managed and supported over 100 active websites. If you saw the movie Forrest Gump, Bubba started a list of all the ways he knew to prepare shrimp… I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty details but my list is that long about spam and I am from the South. Boy, Howdy.

Lately the worst offenders have been the Facebook Spoof emails, as they look identical to the email notifications from Facebook. Currently there is a “Happy Holidays” Facebook Spoof which places a virus on your computer and infects your Facebook account. Even though you may be in love with Facebook, don’t open the emails. Use caution when it comes to networking sites. Here is a list of the email cautions I use. Please add your favorite practices to the comments…

Keith Farrazzi – How Do I Start Networking?

If you get a chance to see Keith Farrazzi, the popular author of ‘Never Eat Alone’ at a live presentation…GO! He is passionate and animated just like he is in this short video. He brings some good points to the table about getting involved where you’ll shine…this is where passion comes in…Pursue it! Did you notice that he didn’t mention any formal business networking events?… which is a very important detail. Business networking events are fun, but you can connect anywhere! You can make connections outside of your referral group or chamber mixer. Think of the possibilities! Your next big business connection maybe standing in line next to you at Starbucks!

Create a Memory

by Dale Furtwengler

Offering a referral or resource to a person you’ve met at networking events, well nothing creates a memory better than that. But what type of memory? Certainly your generosity and kindness, but will that help you generate more referrals? You need to clearly communicate who your ideal client is. I see people making three mistakes when introducing themselves at networking events: 1. They talk about what they do.

2. They don talk about what advantages their clients receive in working with them.

3. They use demographics to identify their ideal customers.

I’m not going to spend much time on numbers one and two. It’s hard to stay awake when someone’s rambling commentary is all about them. How Boring! The third mistake is the least obvious of all the mistakes.

Credit Cards Are Reward Cards
Dec 31st, 2009 by Blog Writer

As a credit cardholder, you are entitled to a reward for using the card. The company that issued the card realizes that without such an incentive, you might worry a lot about how much you incur. They use the rewards to get your mind off such little details. And you don’t have a lot of reasons to complain anyway, because some of these rewards really could put a smile on your face. It is a question of how smart you are, that is what determines who you are able to get away with on planet earth. When you have access to reward cards, you should not be thinking, you should be taking advantage of the opportunity. I suppose you will do that right away, eh? And if you don’t want to, perhaps you should step aside and let someone else cash in on the pleasures that they present.

You pay for using your credit card, you know that. However you also get a reward, however small. Credit cards are also called reward cards sometimes. It is the card – and using it, of course – that puts you in line to receive the reward. I urge that you seek how to take advantage of this as best you can, since it’s out there just for you. Perhaps you never realized it, but you need a reward card already. There are all of those exorbitant extra bills you have to pay for the use of your credit card. Really, they don’t have to be. Instead, you could be given rewards for making those transactions and purchases. Erstwhile you have not cashed in because you didn’t know. But now you know. You seriously don’t need to be missing out on those chances anymore.

You might want to look around you and reevaluate your financial and social standing. Not meaning to sound cryptic, I mean, if you are not using a reward card you are not doing yourself much good. As a matter of fact, simply because of the airline flyer miles that some of them offer, I’ll never stop using them… that is, until I find something better. There are reward cards that give you rewards only if you make a certain amount of transaction on them each month. If you don’t score that high, you get billed. Others work the other way round. Any transaction more than a certain figure gets billed. Really, it is up to you to choose the type that you want. The way to do that is to look at what you are really spending on, and how you like that spending to be. And then you can alter it as you like, with respect to the packages offered you.

There are wise ways to use your credit card so that it really does bring you rewards. You can ask around from folks who do it all the time; you will find that instead of spending a lot, there are actually making money. You should want to be in those shoes too. Who wouldn’t want to have access to all of that? When credit cards offer you rewards to use them, they are known as reward cards or rewards credit cards. If you haven’t heard about them, it’s because you haven’t been paying attention. Wake up, Friend. There’s a world in rapid progress around you, and you want to jumpon for the ride or be left behind in a world where you pay dearly for everything you get access to.

If you don’t own a reward card, you are doing yourself some form of bodily harm. Ok, I mean financial harm. Why subscribe to credit cards that charge you to use them, when there are credit cards that pay you to use them. The thing about reward cards is that they are best suited to your needs on the whole. They encourage you to buy things that you need by making sure you enjoy doing it. And as the rewards start to pile in, you are encouraged to do more and more transactions with the card. In truth, everybody is benefiting from it, so you have nothing to worry about.

Wellington’s Top Attractions
Dec 28th, 2009 by Blog Writer

Travelers in the know will agree that Wellington, the capital of New Zealand is one Pacific city not to be missed. It offers an excellent atmosphere, very relaxed and laid back, as well as wide range of attractions for both the nature lovers and urban clubbers. If you are planning a visit here, be sure to check out these excellent tips for your next visit.

Take the cable car to the Royal Botanic Gardens to enjoy a mesmerizing view. The old cable car is a relic that’s been preserved especially for the tourists, so it’s actually a tad cheesy. But its a great way to laze and enjoy your way towards the Royal Botanic Gardens, where you’ll be rewarded with a mesmerizing view over the city. Not far to the west from the Royal Botanic Gardens is Kellburn Village, Wellington’s most European neighborhood. This is a great place to relax over coffee, enjoy a slow meal or go for a leisurely stroll. The main street is lined with cosy cafes, antique shops and tasty bakeries.

Another point of interest is the Karori Sanctuary, where you’ll get to experience a time machine of sort. The Karori Sanctuary is dedicated to restoring a corner of New Zealand as closely as possible to the way it was the day before humans arrived, and you’ll have to agree that they’ve been doing their job pretty well. It’s an extremely peaceful and rural area, even though its located near the city. You can also visit the Te Papa, Wellington’s national museum. They’ve got an excellent variety of exhibits that it’s hard to really pin down what the museum is all about, but a visit there is always worth it. Surprise yourself with whatever random exhibits are on offer!

Preparing Your Garden For Winter
Dec 28th, 2009 by Blog Writer

As we get closer and closer to winter, it’s time to place your lawn into hibernation until next spring. Here are a few tips to get you started.

If you have any sensitive potted plants in your garden, you’ll want to move them indoors or to a warmer environment. In the Spring, you can move them back and they’ll be ready to go. Otherwise you may find that they failed to survive the harsh cold and you’ll have to reinvest for an entire new set of plants.

Inspect your trees and bushes. Trim the damaged ones that you find. Also trim the ones that are too close to the home. Broken branches have the very bad habit of breaking off at the most inopportune times – as in an ice storm or wind storm – and possibly doing extensive damage to your car or home.

Inspect your lawn for bare spots and plant grass seeds in the area. Planting them now gives them time to develop strong roots before the weather gets too cold. In the spring, after a few months of hibernation, they’ll be fully acclimated to your garden and ready to grow immediately. By that time, the grass will also have developed strong roots and be ready to survive assaults from both weeds and insects as the new spring season begins. For a quick start you can use inexpensive zoysia grass plugs or the best quality Scotts grass seed.

Do your last weeding for the year. The last thing you want do do is to let your weeds lay dormant in your garden over the winter months. If you do, you’ll be giving them a good head start over the rest of your plants come springtime. Weeds have a good enough advantage as it is. You don’t have to give them more.

Lastly, either cover the furniture in your garden area or place it in your garage or other storage area for the winter. Snow and cold have a bad habit of rusting garden furniture.

Maintaining Hardwood Floors
Dec 28th, 2009 by Blog Writer

Hardwood floors make a great addition to any living room. Its elegant style combined with their strength equals a great choice in residence décor.

Lots of people make a decision against hardwood flooring because they feel that the floors are tough to keep clean. They envision long hours of dusting and costly cleanup solutions and they think that cleaning hardwood flooring is more work and expense than they want.

Repairing hardwood flooring is neither time consuming or expensive. If you comply with a few suggestions you can keep your hardwood floors looking beautiful for many years.

The first instrument you’ll require for cleaning hardwood floors is a gentle broom. Despite the fact that many chain stores that sell and install floors will have special broom for sale, you don’t need one of them. Merely check out the local department store and pick up a soft broom. To keep the floors dust free it’s prudent to sweep them a minimum of once a day if they are installed in a increased traffic location.

You can also use the vacuum for cleaning hardwood floors. Although you’ll want to remove the beater bar attachment and replace it with a soft brush. This works very well for cleaning hardwood floors especially if you notice an accumulation of dust on it or if your child has just ru|n in from the playground tracking sand in with them. The soft brush glides over the surface of the hardwood floor without causing any damage to the wood.

Some hardwood floors include a coating over them. This coating is produced from a polyurethane substance. For cleaning hardwood floors with this coating you can use a wet mop. That doesn’t mean that you can take a pail of water with a mop into the room. It simply means that you’ll be able to very lightly dampen the mop with water and run it over the flooring. This is a good way of cleaning hardwood floors that have a spot on them that sweeping or vacuuming alone doesn’t remove.

In case you find yourself cleaning hardwood flooring very frequently you might want to consider the use of a piece of carpeting in that area. It is possible to purchase an beautiful area rug and place it over the well traveled area of the flooring. This helps guard the floor and it can also add a splash of color to the room. Many people with regular guests or small kids find this a great tool for both saving on the time spent cleaning hardwood floors and the life of the flooring.

Term Life schemes
Dec 27th, 2009 by Blog Writer

Don’t delay sorting out life insurance.  There are several alternative types to select from.  Know the terminology.

Whenever you have dependents of your own you think about what will happen to them after you cease to live.  It will occur, so be proactive and identify how life protection works.  You might actually save finances if you choose the right one for your loved ones, and that is not bad.

Many insurance companies offer standard term insurance which provides for your named individuals if you die by a named date, but if you outlive the ‘deadline’ there is no pay out!  The time period of the policy is tailored to suit your needs.
This is the lowest cost type of life  insurance although premiums are usually increased for males as their regular life span is shorter than women’s.  As expected, financial requirements for people who smoke are still higher.

The details of term insurance change.  A level term option pays out when you cease to live and the level of benefit does not vary throughout the period.  The policy terminates at the end of the timescale and has no remaining value.  This type of option is helpful to cover loan or home loan repayments, in particular interest-only mortgages which don’t fall over time.

A reducing term cover plan is where the death benefit reduces as each year goes by and ceases to exist when the policy matures.  When organising a repayment home loan where the capital amount reduces over the term of the mortgage, this type of mortgage protection is often bought and costs a smaller amount than level term cover.

An individual option, which is often around 10% more costly than level term, is convertible term insurance.  This states that at the end of the time scale of your initial policy you must ‘convert’ it into an alternative type, EG an endowment or a whole-of-life option.
Some cover is not on sale if you are in poor health, but with this variety you cannot legally be dismissed from a new cover plan even if that is the situation.  However, whether you are a  man or a women and your age will determine the level of the new financial requirements and they will in most cases be larger.

There are points to consider when considering conversion and you most certainly must be aware that the amount identified when you convert has to be an equal sum as on the first cover plan.  An individual point to note is that you should convert prior to the end of your original term.

critical illness do what they say and inflate the insurance pay off across the agreed time scale, say by just under ten %, which should protect you against inflation.  Generally, at the age of 65 you are not allowed to further inflate the sum assured.

Partners frequently purchase double insurance options so that family income benefit payments begin when the premier one ceases to live.  This is awarded frequently until the end of the specified time period of the cover plan and can be an agreed figure or can be used to give an ascending income, depending on the contract you have decided upon. The time period of these policies is often stylised to give financial support until the identified family members have are able to look after themselves financially.

Inexpensive But Superior Quality Bridal Gowns
Dec 27th, 2009 by Blog Writer

A person’s wedding day should be one of the most significant events of her life, and so she must make sure the planning, budget, decorations, and everything else are all perfect. Your brain gets overwhelmed with hundreds of thoughts. At the very top of all of your thoughts is your gown. The image that guests see as you begin your walk down the church aisle in all of your splendor.

First, as you pick your gown, you should consider the most important factors. You’re wanting elegance, quality and beauty, however, you’re also wanting a glamorous look at an affordable price. There are plenty of ways you can get a dress with a look that you love at a cost that’s not too expensive. A suggestion, start early.

If you start looking for your dress early, you’ll be more likely to get the businesses you want involved in the search working with you. To get the best wedding dress at the most reasonable price, you might want to ask yourself how your mom or grandmother managed to look so great in their wedding photos, with probably less money than you have?”

The right timing is everything. After you’ve set the big day and prioritized your arrangements, you must get out get started. Shopping for a wedding gown in the wedding “off season” helps you find the perfect gown at a more affordable price. Think about it: How many couples decide to get married at Christmas time?

Exactly, but the best bridal boutiques remain open throughout the year, so don’t worry about shopping in the cold weather, since your thoughts will be warmed by thoughts of that special day in just two short summers.

If you begin your search for a wedding dress early enough, you’ll find that New York, Chicago, L.A. and other large markets are available to you. For example, if you’re planning a June wedding, then by shopping for your dress in December, even in the big cities, you’re likely to find a good deal.

There are other options for finding a good wedding dress besides shopping at bridal boutiques and bridal shops. The Worldwide Web offers a host of wedding resources that you can consult from the comfort of your living room, but pay attention to sizing. Be sure you’re fitted perfectly for your dress, taking no chances of a slip-up, and taking no chances that there’s no time for alterations if needed. Which reminds us: Alterations can be a fine way of creating the ultimate wedding dress.

Have the boldness to do things outside the box and be original. If you’d like to make your wedding gown, beautiful, lovely, yet affordable, consider altering a couple of dresses, turning them into one beautiful one. One smart idea: Instead of spending a fortune on one dress, find two less expensive ones and have a tailor combine them into one breathtaking dress. The creativity and originality will give you a look that takes a back seat to nobody.

Remember that a special day can become more special by getting creative with the dress you wear. Your hope is for everyone to remember this special day, and few things are as memorable or special as the wedding dress that people see you wearing on this day. Be original, use your imagination, and of course, have fun!

Get The Big Deal Of Knowing About Term Life Insurance
Dec 27th, 2009 by Blog Writer

What Is The Secret Of Term Life Insurance??!

Term life insurance is a type of life insurance coverage which is only valid for the term of the life insurance contract.

In a nutshell, when you purchase term life insurance, you and the insurance company enter into an agreement to provide you coverage for a specific term, the length of the agreement, for a specified premium each month or year.

If you’re the type of person who:

* just wants a “no frills” full coverage;
* just wants to get the highest value coverage for the lowest cost; and
* is not engaged in a dangerous hobby or profession…

term life insurance is for you.

It’s because of this simple rule above that, with the Consumer Advocate Strategy, you’ll be able to save your precious dollars and still get the best coverage you can!

So stay with me and read on…

What Are the Benefits of Term Life Insurance?

One of the benefits is the lowest prices and rates out of almost all life insurance coverage types. The reason behind this is because there is no return cash value once the term’s maturity is reached unused, unlike many of the other life insurance types.
What’s Not Covered in Term life Insurance?

Term life insurance, just like every other insurance type, has certain exclusions which are not covered.

Many life insurance providers require a form which has numerous questions about your occupation, activities, and hobbies, and your premiums are based on an assessed risk according to your answers, among other factors.

If you engage in high risk activities or work in a high risk occupation, you will have higher rates than people who do not. If you are a commercial pilot, or you fly planes as a hobby, you are at a higher risk for death than an accountant or lawyer.

Your premiums are based on your risk factors, and the more risks you take the higher these premiums will be.

So How Does The Low Cost Justify Itself Again?

Term life insurance offers better life insurance costs than other types because the policy only serves to be in force during the lifetime of the policy. With no extra benefit to it after it expires, you are charged a way lower rate than the other policies that offer other “value-added” features to sweeten the deal.

Term Life insurance is a “no frills” insurance policy and its low prices serves to emphasize that point.

Finally, The Consumer Advocate Strategy On How To Use Term Life Insurance To Your Advantage (Save $$$)!!

Insurance premiums are based on risks, no matter what type of insurance it is, and life insurance is no different.

So little Consumer Advocate me came up with a great strategy on how to use term life insurance to your benefit. It’s so simple and saves you so much money, you’d be slapping your head in amazement!
